Prof. Dr. Mijanur Rahman, The Honorable Vice Chancellor of Jagannath University has established the Dept. of Fine Arts to reawaken the rich cultural heritage of Old Dhaka and create an aura of cultural excellence. The Department started it’s prosperous journey with the batch of 2013-14 (BFA). It proudly celebrates the annual Mongol Shobhajatra on the occasion of the Bangla New Year in order to consolidate the cultural bond between Old Dhaka and Jagannath University.

Although the activities and initiatives of this Department prioritizes the local population of Old Dhaka, it’s impact far exceeds the regional borders. All the teachers, students, officers and staffs are relentlessly striving to spread the goodwill of this Department to the national and international spheres. The students of this Department have already received numerous accolades, both local and foreign, for various Art Exhibitions and activities related to Fine Arts. The Department of Fine Arts pioneers the cultural movement of the university and works persistently for it’s overall advancement.
