Dr. Anirban Sarker

Dr. Anirban Sarker received his B.Sc. (honours) in Zoology (2006) and M.Sc in Fisheries (2008) from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh and he acquired first position in these two-degree programs. After that, Dr. Anirban received his Chinese Mandarin Diploma (2017) and Ph.D (2020) from Shanghai Ocean University, P.R. China. In 2018, he passed Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK-Level 4). In 2009, He joined as a lecturer in the Department of Zoology, Jagannath University, Dhaka, Bangladesh and he joined in the same university as an assistant professor in 2012 and as an associate professor in 2020. From 2004 to 2015, Dr. Anirban conducted research on fish biodiversity, biochemistry, osteology and aquaculture. In the year of 2016, he joined as a fellow in the Lab of Molecular Systematics and Ecology, Shanghai Ocean University, P.R. China. In this lab, Dr. Anirban worked on population genomics of two shads and taxonomy of Pomfret. Currently he is working on crab culture, fish population genomics and ecology. At the same time, he is performing as an associate editor to the Journal of Life and Earth Sciences and as an advisor of Nature study and conservation club, Jagannath University. His works led to many peer-reviewed publications, including Fisheries and Aquaculture Journal (2016), Ocean Life (2017), Molecular Phylogenetics & Evolution (2019), Marine Biodiversity (2020), Scientific Reports (2021), Diversity (2022) and BMC Genomic Data (2022).
