Bio:  Dr. Santonu Kumar Sanyal is currently working as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Sanyal's research aims to understand the microbial influence on global biogeochemical cycling, with a special emphasis on microbial genomics, proteomic and biochemistry. Dr. Sanyal obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Microbiology from the School of Biological Sciences, The University of Adelaide. His Ph.D. project was entitled 'Analyzing Microbial Diversity on Metal Rich (especially Gold) Environments'. Dr. Sanyal received the Dean's commendation for his doctoral thesis and he was also a recipient of the prestigious ASI Scholarship for his doctoral studies. Dr. Sanyal obtained his B.S (Hon’s) degree in Microbiology with Deans Award (2012) and M.S (2014) in Microbiology from The University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Along with the doctoral studies, Dr. Sanyal also worked as a casual Professional Staff member at The University of Adelaide.
