Biography of Tareq Hossain Khan

Tareq Hossain Khan has been in the Department of Political Science since 2012; first as a Lecturer- and now as an Assistant Professor. He received his Second Master from the Department of International Relations at the Jacobs University and University of Bremen, Germany, with higher distinction (85% number). During study in Germany, Mr. Khan has written a thesis paper on Determinants of Durable Peace: A Comparative Study of Nagaland and Chittagong Hill Tracts, in which he addressed two interrelated questions: what kind of policy can reduce the risk of recurrence of armed conflict in post-conflict society? And how does this policy reduce the risk of conflict? It is his credit that the thesis paper received 95% number with great apprise.

Mr. Khan also holds Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) and Master of Social Sciences (MSS) in Government and Politics from the Jahangirnagar University with first class. Before joining at the JnU, he taught at the Bangladesh Open University where he wrote several text books for Bachelor and Master’s students.

Mr. Khan teaches and researches largely in the field of international politics, peace and conflict and Bangladesh’s politics. His research also focuses on great power politics, security, and political economy. His first book, Political History of Bangladesh (in Bengali) seizes huge popularity among the Master level students and can be found as ‘selected readings’ at the different public universities.

His articles appeared in different peer-reviewed journal including Asian Studies, Journal of Indian Studies, Indian Journal of Political Science, and Journal of Administrative Studies.
