Biography of Dr. Md. Moynul Haque

Dr. Md. Moynul Haque is Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science. He started teaching at the same department back in 2011. Dr. Moynul studied PhD at Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) and awarded doctorate with Magna Cum Laude from the faculty of Sociology, Bielefeld University, Germany. His dissertation focuses on nonviolent protest movements in Bangladesh with high concentration of student politics by the meaning of participation and activism. The PhD was jointly funded by BGHS and German Excellence Initiative (DFG). 

Dr. Moynul received the prestigious German Academic Exchange Service (known as DAAD) scholarship in 2013 and pursued his second Master degree in Development and Governance at the Institute of Political Science, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. He also attended a German language course (from level A1 to B1) at internal e.v. am Herder-Institute, Leipzig University, Germany.

Born in Kushtia district, Dr. Moynul attended Kushtia Zilla School and Kushtia Government College respectively. He passed Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C) in Humanities in 1999 with first division and Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C) in Humanities in 2001 with the first division as well. He completed 4 years of Bachelor of Honors (B.S.S) and 1 Year Master of Social Sciences (M.S.S) degree in Political Science from the University of Dhaka with the first class result. He was conferred the Dean's Award by the faculty of social sciences of Dhaka university as recognition for securing the first position in the first class in the Honors examination.

Dr. Moynul has gathered strong research experience through intensive training in both home and abroad. He was awarded Start-Up Scholarship by the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology, Germany and received intensive training on developing Ph.D proposal. He has worked as an Intern at the Institute for Development and Peace (in German, Institut für Entwicklung und Frieden (INEF), based in Duisburg, Germany.
