Biography of Sarmin Akter

Sarmin Akter is a lecturer in the Department of Law, Jagannath University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before joining this department, she worked as a Law Officer at the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation. MS Akter completed her LL.M. and LL.B. (Honors), with First class First and First class Third respectively from the Department of Law, Jagannath University.

Driven by a passion for national and international law, she actively participated in various programs, seminars, workshops and moot court competitions. Additionally, she received youth leadership training from British Council to lead social action projects within the community. Her leadership skills are further demonstrated through the involvement with organizations like Jagannath University Moot Court Society (JnUMCS), NILS Bangladesh, and Jessup Bangladesh. Now MS Akter serves as a convenor of JnUMCS. She also serves as a "Resident Mentor" for ELCOP Human Rights Summer School held every year

As a dedicated academic, she is passionate about research and legal writing. Her research interests are wide-ranging, encompassing family law, natural resources and energy law, environmental law, refugee law, human rights law, and humanitarian law.
