Biography of Dipak Kumar Biswas

Dipak Kumar Biswas is now on study leave for pursuing a Ph.D. at the Department of Political Science, West Virginia University, USA. He holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science, Jagannath University, Dhaka. He earns his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Political Science from the University of Dhaka in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Dipak K. Biswas joined as a lecturer at the Department of Political Science, Jagannath University in August 2015.

Mr. Biswas was born and raised in Jhenaidah, a south-western district of Bangladesh. in 2008, he moved to Dhaka for pursuing his higher studies at the University of Dhaka. He completed his BSS (Hon's) degree in the year of 2012 (but the academic year is 2011) and following the next year he was awarded a Masters's degree. He holds distinguished positions in both Hon's and Masters level. 

Dipak K. Biswas started his career as a government official in May 2014 as an Assistant Revenue Officer, 3 months later he moved to Bangladesh Civil Services. But he always cherishes to have a career in academia and this opportunity came to him in October 2014. He joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur. Then he moved to Jagannath University in August 2015 as a Lecturer and since then he has been working at Jagannath University. 

Mr. Biswas is now on study leave for pursuing is Ph.D. at the Department of Political Science, West Virginia University. He is also serving as the Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) in the same department. In Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters, he served as a Research Assistant (RA) of Dr. Matthew Jacobsmeier, Associate Professor and Graduate Director, Department of Political Science, West Virginia University. 

Research Interests:

Comparative Politics with special focus on Electoral Politics; Religion and Politics.

2011-2012. General Secretary, POPS (Parliament of Political Science, a student based non- political organization of Jagannath Hall), University of Dhaka.
