TECHNICAL SKILLS

    • ANIMAL AND DISEASE MODELS: Extensive experience in laboratory animal research techniques and the use of disease models in mice.

    • Animal models handling: Experience in general animal (mouse) husbandry, managing the breeding of numerous Transgenic, Germ Free (GF) and Knock Out mouse strains.

    • Induction of disease models: Intraperitoneal (i.p) injections of chemical agents to mouse models. Embryo harvesting at embryonic day 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 to see the neuronal tube defects. Mouse embryo heart harvesting at day 17.5 to see the heart defects in diabetic’s mouse model.

    • CELL BIOLOGY:  Mammalian cell culture, shRNA lentivirus production, gene silencing using lentivirus and siRNA-mediated system, transfection (lipofectamine 2000), MTT assay, FACS, TUNEL assay and Immunofluorescence Staining.

    • MOLECULAR BIOLOGY: Isolation of DNA, RNA, plasmid DNA. PCR, qRT-PCR, Real-time PCR. Primer design, molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, promoter/dual-luciferase assay, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay and western blot.

    • HISTOLOGY: H&E staining.

    • Trained on Biosafety, chemical safety and risk Assessment, Animal Ethics that includes Safe laboratory practice, General laboratory safety, Chemical safety, Waste management and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) training at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA.

     

    STATISTICS AND SOFTWARE

    • Software: Competent user of Microsoft Office, Graph Pad Prism, End Note and relevant software required for data analysis and figure preparation for scientific manuscript publication and presentation.

    • Bio-informatics: Primer designing, Sequence alignment and estimation of homology (using ClustalW, Clustal Omega, MEGA etc), Amino acid sequence alignment and homology, Construction of phylogenetic tree and Human genome browser gateway.
