About Department of Public Administration
Jagannath University is a well reputed institution of higher education. The history of conversion from a school to a university has transformed the university into a traditional educational institution. The institution, which started as a lecture hall in 1868, was established as a college in 1884 and as a full-fledged university in 2005. On the basis of the permission letter dated March 18, 2013, from the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), the Department of Public Administration was inaugurated under the Faculty of Social Sciences from the academic year 2013-14. On August 18, 2013, the official journey of the Department of Public Administration began with the appointment of Dr. Asma Bente Iqbal (then Associate Professor of Department of Political Science), as the founding chairman. On April 15, 2014, Dr. Asma Bente Iqbal was posted in the Department of Public Administration . The current number of teachers in the department is 15. The outcome based course curriculum has been included in the academic activities of the department from the academic year 2018-19. The curriculum is a combination of both theoretical and practical knowledge and evolving with time, to enhance capacities, skills and abilities of students, required for their successful careers in the upcoming days of 4th industrial revolution.
