Biography of Sriman Delip Kumar Das

Background

I joined Jagannath University in 2013 as a Lecturer of Zoology Department. I was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2016. I have two Masters degree: one on Bioinformatics from Mumbai University, India and the other on Zoology from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. At present, I am pursuing my PhD studies at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

I am passionate about conducting ecological research and conservation of the nature and wildlife. Birds particularly migratory shorebirds fascinates me. Currently I am trying to understand the migration ecology and habitat use of threatened shorebirds and seabirds in the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna delta (central coast) of Bangladesh to help make a better policy to manage and conserve the threatened birds. I am also studying urban landscape and urban wildlife of Dhaka City seeking a solution to minimize negative impacts of urban growth on biodiversity, to integrate urban landscapes in wildlife conservation plans and to sustain a healthy urban ecosystem.
