Biography of Dr. Apurba Lal Ray

BIOGRAPHY

Mr Apurba Lal Ray (Apurba Anirban) is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Botany of Jagannath University, Dhaka, Bangladesh from 16 June 2016 to till date. He was a lecturer of this department from 17 February 2013 to 16 June 2016. He is now pursuing his PhD research at The University of Queensland, Australia from 01 October 2018. He completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master’s studies at the Department of Botany of University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2004 (awarded in 2006) and 2005 (awarded in 2009) respectively. His interests include: teaching, research and writing books.

  2. 2nd place in the QAAFI Annual Research Meeting abstract competition under ‘Nutrition and Food Science’ category on 01 Dec 2020.

Achievements:

  1. Supervised Master’s thesis project entitled “Assessment of phytoremediation potential of wild and EMS induced plants’ (2018).
  2. Achieved research project grant from Jagannath University, Bangladesh in 2017 to conduct research project on ‘Molecular genetic investigation of EMS induced Brassica juncea heavy metal hyperaccumulator genotypes’.
  3. 2nd prize for acquiring fair theoretical knowledge on teaching methodology and showing good performance in Instructional Ability Test (IAT) as a Lecturer in Botany of Rajuk Uttara Model College, Dhaka, 14 August 2011.
  4. Achieved prizes in reciting, speech and debating competitions during the studies at school, college and university respectively.
