Biography of Dr. Tabassum Zaman
Dr.Tabassum Zaman is a Professor of Jagannath University (JnU), Department of Economics. She obtained her undergraduate (2004) and post-graduate degree (2005) in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.Tabassum pursued another post graduate degree in Public Policy and Governance (2011) from North South Univeriaty Bangladesh.She received her Ph.D in Public Administration from Tribhuvan University of Nepal in 2018 under the supervision of Professor Dr. Shree Krishna Shrestha of Tribhuvan Uiversity and Professor Dr. Slahuddin Aminuzzaman of University of Dhaka.
She started her career as a lecturer in Economics of Jagannath University, in 2008 and was promoted to a Professor in 2023.
Her PhD work was published in a book named' Policy Response, Local Service Delivery, and Governance in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka' Published by Palgrave Macmillan. Tabassum continued her research work records as an independent researcher.She has published 13 research works in recognized journals as academic articles.Moreover, she worked on two Jagannath University funded research projects.She worked as an assistant editor, reviewer and proofreader for recognized local and international journals.
Tabassum proved her as an able mentor and genuine classroom teacher.She guided graguate and undergraduate students who published their research findings in tabloid and academic journals.She has also guided M Phil students and presently guiding PhD canditates.
She worked as a moderator of debating club and study club of the Department of Economics, JnU. She functioned as a member of COVID-19 Charity Management Team of the Department of Economics, JnU.Additionally she anchored different events of the universities like orientation programs for the freshers,information session for the Weekend Program of the Department of Economics, JnU and conferences as well. She attends local and international conferences, maintains her communication with professional societies and engage in research related trainings to update her academic knowledge.
Presently she is working as a student advisor of the Department of Economics,JnU.
