Biography of Dr.Ayesha Siddequa Daize

 

I am Dr. Ayesha Siddequa Daize and I hold the position of Professor in the Department of Sociology at Jagannath University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I began teaching Sociology at Jagannath University in 2013. Before joining here, I served as a Lecturer at esteemed public and private universities, including Bangladesh Open University (BOU) in Gazipur and Bangladesh University (BU) in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, accumulating over six years of teaching experience. A product of Viqarunnissa Noon School and College, I earned my BSS with Honours and MSS in Sociology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. My academic pursuits culminated in a PhD degree from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies at Dhaka University, focusing on understanding the underlying nature and causes of social exclusion, inequality, and the vulnerable position of the sweeper community in Bangladesh. Beyond academia, I bring administrative expertise to Jagannath University, currently serving as a Ranger Guider under Bangladesh Girls' Guide Association. In the past, I have served as an assistant proctor in Jagannath University. My diverse academic interests span culture and society, minority rights, women's empowerment and gender studies, poverty, social inequality, and development policy. I have contributed significantly to the field, publishing numerous research articles in various peer-reviewed journals. Active participation in national and international seminars and conferences has further enriched my understanding of social issues. I also contribute to public discourse through newspaper columns, addressing the vulnerable position of minorities in society.
