Biography of Choyon Kumar Saha (Study Leave)

Biographical Note

Choyon Kumar Saha obtained his Undergraduate and Graduate degree in Sociology from University of Dhaka in 2007 and 2008 respectively. His graduate thesis entitled The nature of vulnerability and the resilience in risk reduction of cyclone-affected people: a sociological study at Padmapukur union in Satkhira addresses the dynamic nature of vulnerability and the resilience in risk reduction of southwestern coastal residents and low-lying plain lands—induced by tropical Cyclone Aila 2009. His research works have focused on the intersection among natural hazards, people’s vulnerability and building resilience across the risk-prone regions including southern coasts and northern arid drylands. Prior to joining the Jagannath University in July 2013, he taught in the Department of Sociology at Lalmatia Mohila College in 2011. Later on, he joined as Research Officer in Unnayan Shamannay—one of the leading think tank in the country in 2012 where he reappointed with promotion as Associate Coordinator (Research and Advocacy) after a couple of months. He has experienced to serve as a research associate, field research investigator, and research officer in more than twenty research and development projects of different organizations.
