Assistant Professor Nasrin Akter researches and teaches law in the areas of Environmental and Climate Change, Land Acquisition and Resettlement, Disaster Management, Indigenous People’s Rights, Intellectual Property, Labour and Family Laws. She began her association in the Department of Land Management and Law, Jagannath University as a Lecturer in July, 2019. Prior to joining JnU, she served as a Lecturer of the Department of Law at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) where she taught Legal System of Bangladesh. Assistant Professor Nasrin Akter completed her Bachelor and Master of Laws from the Department of Law, University of Dhaka securing 1st Class 1st Position in both LLB and LLM Exam held in 2016 & 2017. She has been awarded Prime Minister Gold Medal, 2017, Barrister Nora Shariff Gold Medal, 2016 and many other scholarships for her outstanding result.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Assistant Professor Nasrin Akter is a member of several academic committees. She is actively involved in a number of Jagannath University (JnU) funded research grants examining “the country's past and present land acquisition policies and practices”, as well as “rethinking land acquisition policies in light of climate change”. She has presented her research works at several international conferences focusing on Environmental and Climate Change issues. Recent conference presentations include one she gave with her co-author at the 2022 Oslo (3rd) International Environmental Law Conference "The Transformative Power of Law: Addressing Global Environmental Challenges" October 3-6, 2022, hosted by University of Oslo, IUCN and WCEL (https://www.iucnwcel2022.com/)

Springer Nature Singapore, Palgrave Macmillan and LEAD Journal have published her legal research papers. Additionally, she has contributed to multiple book chapters. Her upcoming works focuses on Sustainable Soil Management and Bangladesh’s Biodiversity Laws and Policies and Indigenous Knowledge and Practices.
