Biographical Note

Shamali Shill has received her MSS in Sociology from University of Dhaka in 1997 with advanced research monograph on Impact of Micro Credit on Agricultural Community. She completed 2 years fellowship on Poverty and Health at Center for Health and Population Research, ICDDR,B. As a part of her fellowship programme she completed the research "Measuring Household Economic Status in Rural Bangladesh: Can Asset Based Indicators Replace Household Income and Expenditure?" This study aims to asses whether an asset based index of economic status correlates better with indices of health and social deprivation than do household income and expenditure. This study was accepted for Scientific Writing Workshop organized by the Indepth Network. She attended the workshop held in Accra, Ghana, from 6-10 December, 2004. She completed Introductory Course on Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Course on Measuring Poverty: Economic Dimensions organized by ICDDR,B Prior to joining Jagannath University, She was a Lecturer in Sociology at Nwab Faizunnesa Govt. College, Laksam, Comilla.
