My PhD research involves the development of charge neutral zwitterionic alkene polymerisation

catalysts. The ligand system 6-aminofulvene-2-aldiminate (AFA) is being exploited to develop its zwitterionic square-planar palladium (II) and nickel (II) catalyst precursors. The techniques employed include nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), Mass Spectrometry (MS), X-ray crystallography, Infra-red Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and high pressure autoclave reactor. I used glovebox and Schlenk techniques to handle air and moisture sensitive compounds.

MSc in Chemical Engineering, 73% marks (average grade 7.3 out of 10 ECTS scale)

My MSc thesis was titled ‘Propene dimerisation with heavier transition metals of group 5 and 6 and their corresponding silsesquioxane metal complexes’. The aim of the research was to develop new catalyst for selective propene dimerisation to 2,3-dimethyl-1-butene (DMB1) for the application in musk fragrance HAT TM (Sumitomo Chemical), insecticides and gasoline additives to improve octane rating. I used inert atmosphere, glovebox and Schlenk techniques to synthesize various silsesquioxane metal complexes and characterize them by NMR, Mass Spectrometry and X-ray crystallography

The title of the MSc thesis was ‘Justification of the detection limit of arsenic field test kits by standard laboratory techniques’. Arsenic can be detected qualitatively by using Field Test Kit. To keep the standard of the Field Test Kit at a reliable level, the accuracy of the Field Test Kit needs to be checked and verified. In this thesis the detection efficiency of arsenic Field Test Kit have been verified by laboratory methods.
