Message from the Chairman

Welcome to the Department of Film and Television

It is a great honor to be the Chairperson of the Department of Film and Television at Jagannth University. Though relatively new, the Department brings a wonderful learning environment consistent with the required balanced students that have visionary leadership skill for relevant industries as well as high engagement with society. The Department promotes a knowledgeable society through a learning process that are usually conducted in an interactive way combining theory and in-hand practices. This is a fully student-centered Department that values the future of our students in terms of critical understanding and the job market. I am pleased to be a part of the Department and especially as a member in which various leading persons in the field are engaged in the Department through sharing their knowledge inside classroom and industry. The Department understands the needs of the industry and the newest technological demands that requires revision of the curriculum. Conceptualizing this, the Department continuously revised in compliance with the national and global demands. Our vibrant research, teaching and in-practice culture that provides multidisciplinary knowledge, caters opportunities for our students to be involved in cutting edge in the field. We include many interesting and updated issues in the areas from film and television production to research in the field. The Department takes its great pride in its capacity as a distinguished forward-looking and influential Department that could be understood through its updated curriculum. The Film and Television Department at Jagannath University started in 2015 in a small classroom but gradually it becomes a leading department not only in Bangladesh but also in the region. Our students are contributing nationally and internationally. They have shown their capability in producing in television and film industry as reporters, presenters, producers, directors, actors and associated areas. Many of them are successful in private entrepreneurship. We welcome everybody that have desire and ability to learn, share and produce new insights in the area of new experience and knowledge.
