About Institute of Education and Research

Welcome to the Institute of Education and Research (IER), Jagannath website. Our history is not very long. Having begun it’s journey in 2016 with the introduction of the Honors Degree in Bachelor of Education (BEd), we have rapidly established ourselves as a key player in the field of education. Located in the heart of Old Dhaka, we pride ourselves on our strong partnerships with numerous secondary schools and other educational organizations. Our students enrolled in the regular BEd (Hons.) program engage in a 6-month practicum as intern teachers for gaining invaluable practical knowledge and experience in teaching. Additionally, our students have the opportunity to work as interns with various educational organizations, preparing them for future careers by providing hands-on practical experience. The institute plays a vital role in the country’s education sector by producing skilled teachers and educators. We offer two innovative professional programs: the Professional Bachelor of Education (PBEd) and the Professional Master of Education (PMEd). Almost 200 secondary school teachers yearly enroll in the IER to enhance their professional knowledge and skills through these programs.

IER is staffed by a dedicated team of faculty and staff, committed to both academic excellence and administrative efficiency. As part of their commitment to create and apply new knowledge, our faculty members are intensely engaged in research that has a tangible impact on learners, teachers, curriculum, educational policy, and the overall educational system. In addition to our undergraduate and professional programs, IER offers MPhil (Master of Philosophy) and PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) programs aimed at producing outstanding researchers, whose work can have positive impacts on the education sector locally, nationally, and globally.
