As the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University, it is my privilege to extend a warm welcome to all. Being one of the oldest educational institutions in Dhaka and Bangladesh, Jagannath University stands at the confluence of tradition and innovation, committed to nurturing creative minds for the challenges of the 21st century. We honour our rich heritage while embracing cutting-edge methodologies in higher education.

As the Vice-Chancellor, I am in continuous dialogue with the university’s diverse stakeholders students, faculty, alumni, supporting staff, researchers, national and international partners, government officials, and ultimately the citizens of Bangladesh. This is a shared journey, one that thrives on collaboration and collective effort. I deeply appreciate the unwavering support and hard work of our esteemed faculty members, who, despite various challenges, remain dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation. Our faculty are not only erudite but also internationally recognized for their academic achievements. Their research orientation and commitment to excellence propel this university forward, enabling us to prepare our students for the complexities of the modern world. As Vice-Chancellor, I am committed to facilitating this process of educational advancement and supporting our faculty members in their pursuit of excellence.

At the heart of our success are our students, the focal point of all our academic and extracurricular endeavours. Jagannath University prioritises student development, ensuring that their educational experience is enriched and empowering. Our students, in turn, are excelling on various platforms, showcasing their talents in competitive examinations, securing international scholarships, and bringing pride to their alma mater. They are the ambassadors of our achievements, and under the mentorship of our dedicated faculty, they continue to flourish.

Equally vital to our success are the non-academic officials, whose support is the instrumental in the university’s smooth operations. I am very glad to testify that the Registrar’s Office, the Library, the Exam Office, the Student Welfare Office, the ICT Cell, the Proctor Office and Other Offices work tirelessly behind scenes, ensuring that student and faculty have the resources and support they need. Their quiet diligence keeps this institution functioning seamlessly.

Jagannath University proudly showcases a rich heritage of over 150 years, playing pivotal roles in Bangladesh’s nationalist and liberation war. We take deep pride in our historical contributions, from Language Movement of 1952 to the liberation War of 1971. This institution has been a cradle for social, intellectual, and political change, producing the nation’s first Language Martyr, Rafiq and actively participating in key movements like Six-Point Movement of 1966 and mass uprising of 1969. The students at Jagannath University also played a defining role in the historic “July Revolution – 2024” of Bangladesh, a movement that marked a turning point in the nation's pursuit of social justice and political reform. Their leadership, courage, and determination in mobilizing the youth of the country were pivotal in shaping the course of the revolution. Their participation in this movement not only underscored the university’s commitment to national progress but also cemented their legacy as catalysts of change, furthering Jagannath University’s role in the nation’s sociopolitical landscape. I encourage our students not merely to seek degrees but strive to become leader and innovators. We aspire to nurture empathetic, critical thinkers who will champion international cooperation while remaining deeply patriotic. Our commitment is to provide humanistic education that prepares students for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the global challenges ahead.

My heartiest felicitation towards the future scholars that now tread on the ground of Jagannath University. We uphold both the tradition and hospitality of Old Dhaka. At the same time, we look forward to the world to explore and conquer through our academic excellence. The collective hands of our esteemed faculty members and officials along with the potential of our students take us close to closer in realizing our dream to become one of the eminent knowledge producers in the world, a true contributor to Bangladesh.
